How to bring your herd in from Excel
If you already keep your herd in Excel, or in another program that exports to Excel, you do not have to type anything again: AURA reads the file.
What you need: Your Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file, with a header row at the top. You can do it on the phone, but it is easier on the computer (auraagroia.com/app).
Step by step
- Open Animals and tap Add.
- Below the form, tap Have many? Bring them from Excel.
- Under What will you bring in? choose Whole herd to bring in the animals. If the animals are already in AURA, you can also bring in their milk, weigh-ins, vaccines or calvings.
- Tap Load Excel or CSV and choose the file. You can also copy the cells in Excel and paste them into the box.
- Check the preview: AURA recognizes the columns (name, ear tag, breed, sex, birth date, dam, weight…) and flags rows with a problem, such as a row with no name or tag.
- Tap Import. When it finishes, it tells you how many came in.
Good to know
- Nothing is duplicated. If an animal with the same ear tag is already on your farm, it is not created again.
- The first row is the headers, with at least one row of data below.
- To bring in milk, weigh-ins, vaccines or calvings, the animals must already be in AURA: bring them in first with “Whole herd”.
